CATCH PREP STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

CATCH’s special education program demonstrates a strong commitment to accepting and serving all students with disabilities and no child is turned away. Students in the special education program have full access to grade level standards-based instruction within the general education setting. CATCH recognizes that each student with disabilities may require a different combination of services and settings, and when appropriate, a student's curriculum can be modified. The goal is to build programs around a student's needs rather than trying to fit the student into the programs. That to the maximum extent appropriate, children with disabilities, including children in public or private institutions or other care facilities, are educated with children who are nondisabled; and that special classes, separate schooling or other removal of children with disabilities from the regular educational environment occurs only if the nature or severity of the disability is such that education in regular classes with the use of supplementary aids and services cannot be achieved satisfactorily.

CATCH PREP INTERVENTION

Effective instruction is the premise for all student learning at CATCH. The core curriculum and implementation of differentiated strategies to meet all learners is key to engagement and active learning. When students are not making progress with accommodations and effective strategies in the general classroom, students may need to participate in specific interventions. Progress monitoring is one of the pertinent functions at CATCH. In order to provide support and services, both the special education coordinator and CATCH teachers and administrators analyze Benchmark tests, conduct weekly grade checks, and hold conferences with parents via email, telephone, and in-person. For students receiving a grade below a C, the teacher informs the parent and discusses ways to improve the grade. If your child is experiencing difficulty in a class, please contact CATCH’s Administration staff as soon as you are aware of the concerns.

Section 504 Plans

CATCH complies with Section 504 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and all Office of Civil Rights mandates for students enrolled in the Charter School. CATCH understands that any student eligible for special education and related services is also protected from discrimination under Section 504, but that not all students who are eligible under Section 504 meet the eligibility requirements for special education and related services. Compliance with Section 504 will be the responsibility of all school personnel and the operational responsibility of the general education program that will have a 504 designee (Principal) who will be in charge of identifying any students who might benefit from a 504 evaluation, maintaining existing 504 plans, and monitoring implementation of 504 plans.

If you feel that your child may qualify for a Section 504 Plan, please contact his or her Principal and Special Education Coordinator.
